This Helmet at some point belonged to WW2 Veteran Henry Joseph Jocz who’s name and address matched up with the label inside the helmet.

age 87, entered into eternal rest, at home with loved ones, on July 31, 2008. He was born 03/22/21, in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late Walter and Stefania Tubielewicz. Preceded in death by wife Teresa (Warzecha/Lewis), step-sons John and Jack Lewis, brothers Witold and Richard, sisters Irene (Henry), Eleanor (Palko) and step-sister Laura Grodeck. Survived by step-daughters, Katheryne Kluding (Ron), Diana Gottke (Ken), Debbi Retherford (Ryan), Donna Cupp (Mike); 18 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and 5 step-great-great-grandchildren; brother, Walter Joyce of New Jersey; along with many wonderful nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends. Henry graduated from Ambridge High School, Ambridge, PA, in 1940. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in Pittsburgh, PA, February 1942 and was sent to the 5th Anti-tank Bn for basic and anti-tank training at Camp Wheeler, GA. He transferred to the Air Corps and was sent to the Savannah, GA, where he flew in A-20s for the 4th Tow Target Sqd. as tow reel operator. Glider pilot training started in Lockbourne, OH, and ended in graduation at Lubbock, TX. Sent to the ETO on the ship Isle De France and attached to the 442nd TC Gp. Flew the Crossing of the Rhine Mission with the 439th where two German ME 109s flew in their formation off the right wing of hisCG4A. Flew back to the states with the 440th Gp. He was in the service a total of 10 years. He graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1956, as a commercial artist and illustrator. He worked for 13 years as a technical writer for North American Aviation in Columbus, OH, and 15 years as a graphic artist for The Ohio State University Research Foundation. Married his beloved Teresa in November 1984 when he was 64 years old. Teresa died 3-1/2 years later in April 1988. He was a lover of aviation and built several of his own aircraft. He was politically active. After his retirement in 1986, he enjoyed traveling, going to auctions, air shows, singing and dancing, Sunday afternoons at Bolton Air Field and any glider pilot/military reunion. He was a member of OLPH Parish, Grove City, OH, the Polish-American Club, Germania, the 82nd Airborne Division Association, Silent Wings Museum, and National WWII Glider Pilot Association. A past member of American Legion and VFW. He will be sadly missed. A very heartfelt thank you to his caregivers for their little miracles of kindness, love and companionship during this chapter of his journey. Thank you Malinda, Lillian, Kenny and Justin. Thank you, Tom, of Mt. Carmel Hospice. Service will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 3710 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123, at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2008, with interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
