Original Third Reich NSDAP 'Gau München' Badge 1933 Maker Marked 11 Grossmann & Co
(German: Gau München Erinnerungsabzeichen) — a 1933 NSDAP political commemorative badge. Design: circular oak-leaf wreath with an entwined ribbon reading “UND IHR HABT DOCH GESIEGT.” Center: openwork swastika stamped “1933.” Significance: the slogan quotes Hitler honoring those who died in the failed Beer Hall Putsch (9 November 1923). Issued by the Munich Gau for the 10th‑anniversary ceremonies when the party reached national power, it commemorated the Munich Putsch but was never an official state award and was soon replaced by the Blood Order. Made of bronze with a soldered pin, marked “11” by Grossmann & Co. worn on the left breast at party events. After 1945 the Gau system and Nazi symbols were abolished as Germany moved to rebuild a democratic state.
