The 2019 crash involving "Red 5"

On October 13, 2019, a CT-114 Tutor from the Snowbirds, designated "Red 5," crashed near the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia. 

  • Cause: The accident was caused by a fuel delivery system failure within the aircraft's engine.

  • Outcome: The pilot, Captain Kevin Domon-Grenier, successfully ejected from the aircraft and sustained only minor injuries. The aircraft was destroyed.

  • A Canadian Force Canadair CT-114 Tutor, operating for the Snowbirds demo team as #5, crashed shortly before their performance at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Captain Domon-Grenier ejected and safely made in to ground. Aircraft crashed in an unpopulated area. No injuries reported.
