Mike Force Medic out of US Special Forces Camp, Detachment B-24 Kontum. Kontum, Detachment B-24 Base camp was established in Jan of 1966 with a company of 5th Special Forces Operatives assigned to the command of Indigenous, Montagnard Mercenaries operating in Military Corps Tactical Zone II. Unit activities out of Kontum were particularly classified with over 500 Mercenaries attached. In November of 1967, whilst the Viet Cong ramped up for their TET OFFENSIVE assault Kontum was designated Command and Control Central by MACV-SOG with the B-24 Element commanding all Mercenary activities in the region. Detachment B-24 reached a peak of US Special Strength in November of 1968 when some 150 operatives were assigned. Within two years, with the wind down of US Involvement in Vietnam the Unit was reduced to some 50 operatives and in November of 1970 the US Operatives pulled out of B-24 handing the camp and Mercenary operatives to the command of the Tiger Force Rangers.
