WW2 USMC Named Fleet Marine Force, Pacific ( FMF - PAC ) P1941 Upper Field Pack
Amazing named, rank and unit marked WWII second model USMC field pack.
I will let the fun of ID’ing the previous owner to the buyer. Which shouldn’t bee too hard given all the information he wrote on the pack.
A un-issued condition US WWII second model with extended throat USMC upper pack (haversack), complete with all straps, buckles, strap tips, grommets, etc. This is the first model of haversack (upper pack of the USMC WWII M41 pack system), created in about September 1941, with two flaps on the side rather than extended throat. This pack was probably made under contract NOm36773, issued to the Boyt Harness Company of Des Moines, Iowa in the amount of $255,000 in July, 1942, for the production of 50,000 packs. This was the first model of pack (M41) made by Boyt. It featured sewn straps rather than riveted (as was the case for Depot-made packs which had rivets that would tear through the fabric), and had two flaps on each side to secure articles inside and provide some degree of weather-proofing.
A fantastic hard to find named pack that would make a great center piece to any USMC Pacific Theater collection. Also perfect to display on a mannequin.
