Original WWII German Heer Artillery Officer’s (Schirmmütze) Sonderklasse Visor Cap
The outstandingly attractive shape and overall look of this doeskin officer’s artillery visor are truly exceptional and will undoubtedly stop any search for such a unique piece dead in its tracks. Its distinctive design and quality craftsmanship make it a remarkable find for collectors and enthusiasts alike. The perfect amount of been there is dripping from this beautiful piece. This cap is straight out of my personal collection where it has been tucked away behind glass for many years and now for the first time in over 80 years available to the public.
The overall condition is good. Aluminum eagle and cockade are enhanced by the expertly crafted crush shape on both sides of the caps top sides. The leather sweat band is a bit stiff as to be expected by its 80 plus years of age. The celluloid sweat diamond has been removed likely by the officer during the war and the sweat and oils from his hair have severely worn away the makers marks only leaving the word Sonderklasse visible. The visor bill has been reinforced with black thread as it is common for that thread holding the bill to fall apart with time and tear.
This is the most visually appealing artillery visor I have ever seen, I will be sad to see it go.
